Making it a game:
Mum suggested us girls find four particular artists in each area, to see if we could find them by their art work; Monet, Renoir, Rousseau, Van Gogh, Caravaggio, Titian, Michelangelo, Leonardo. We had no problem finding Adam and Eve!! By this time it was easy. We could even give some commentary, history to the paintings. This was a fun way to get through the museum fast but also see a lot.
The museum is grand and set up well. That helped a lot too. One half of the museum is burgundy and the other a blue. These two colors are also on the maps.
A beautiful gift shop too!! Because it was free mum was delighted with the easy opportunity to not only support the gift shop but make a donation. Us girl’s chose to buy dad a book on his favorite artist of all time for Father’s Day.
Our favorite artists and their paintings:
- Monet – Water -Lily Pond
- Rousseau – Surprised
- Giordano – Perseus turning Phineas into stone
- Van Gogh – Sunflowers
- Titian – fascinated by the mythological masterpieces

Our parents made us put this in:
The NG museum of London is located in the heart of Trafalgar Square. A beautiful monumental building for the art it exhibits.
I love that it is free, the world of art equitably on view for all to marvel at. The museum is well set up, rooms and maps color coded and numbered well. Headsets not necessary as there are well written captions. Stunning pieces of art work by all the notable and most distinguished period artists.
