The lunch at One80 was interesting, and it was fun creating the new logo. The church seemed the same as all of the other churches – boring. I really liked the beach but the sand was more orange than red. The water was shallow and fun. We had to walk up the beach further to avoid having to walk on rocks to get into the ocean. Our favorite experience of the day were the nibbling fish in the ocean! We had to try to run away from them and couldn’t stop laughing! The boat that went over from Malta with the car inside was fun, but the motors on the boat blocked our view.
Our parents made us put this in: Our family was picked up from the Hyatt Regency, by our beloved second uncle Sonny and Aunty Rita. The ferry took us and the car across the channel to the picturesque island of Gozo. Surprisingly, the valleys are greener and more fertile due to the clay. The roads are narrow and round through the valleys to where the ocean meets the land. The beach has red sand and the ocean turtles are breeding.
We first visited the town of Victoria for coffee and the most delightful pazizzi we’ve ever eaten. We found local treasures, Rita Spoiling the girls, a new hat for Audrey and a white wooden fan for Chelsea. Escaping the heat, we explored the inside of the Pjazza San Gorg. The cathedrals of Gozo are elaborately decorated, marble columns, marble flooring, gold covers every inch of wall not exposed to an illustrative bible painting. From the Pjazza Katidral, built c.1500 BC for th Crown of Aragon, Order of Saint John.
The island is small, we drove back to the ferry port to a beautiful restaurant with views of the port. The sandstone building, hosts restaurant One80 boasting a menu of local seafood dishes.
We drove adventurously on narrow winding old roads to the bottom of the valleys, to the ocean. The beach of Xaghra boasts beautiful red sand, ocean turtles are breading and the shallow water gently rolls for yards to the shore. Looking up, we can see Calypso’s Cave, whereby Audrey delights us with the enchanting and mythical story of the Greek Goddess.
